KUALA LUMPUR: Citi Malaysia and its employees raised RM250,000 in funds which was distributed to nine people’s housing project (PPR) as well as two charity associations in conjunction with its annual Global Community Day (GCD).
The bank, in a statement, said Citi Volunteers managed to raise RM170,000 for communities and residents living in the PPR locations who are from the low-income group and often struggle with illness, lack of education, rising cost of living and multiple other challenges.
Citi Malaysia contributed a total of RM80,000 to two environment-focused NGO beneficiaries - What A Waste, a social enterprise that fights food waste; and Free Tree Society, an NGO that spreads the environmental stewardship message through giving away trees for free.

“GCD is a wonderful opportunity for our volunteers to reinforce our commitment to addressing the evolving challenges around our communities, and show how volunteerism plays a meaningful part in helping them grow and progress.
“This year, we were able to resume in-person volunteering activities and it was heartwarming to see volunteers step up their efforts to come together for a good cause. I would like to express my deep gratitude to all our volunteers for their generosity, time and dedication,” chief executive officer Usman Ahmed said.
